Saturday. The sun was shining and there were no classes. Yawning, Marlene began to rub her eyes to get rid of the sleepy feeling. Swinging her feet out of her bed, she stood in her empty dorm room. Lil's being Head Girl was probably out and about already, same with Alice. Emme was. . .not here? Marlene finding that hard to believe, began to tip toe over towards Emme's bed. Not surprisingly Emme was sound asleep, if the world ending Emme wouldn't know. That's our Emme last to bed, last to rise. Not wanting to wake her friend, Marlene walked into the bathroom and began getting dress.
Walking down the stairs of her dorm, she saw that the common room was empty. Probably all at breakfast or something. . . Exiting her dorm, she wasn't really hungry so she left the castle. Instantly the bright afternoon sun was shining down on her. For a moment Marlene stood there, soaking up the sun and then she began to let her feet take her where ever. The sun was bouncing off her golden blond hair. It was as if her hair and sun were having a tennis match. A cool breeze ruffle her robes and blew stray hairs into her face.
Marlene found herself staying away from the most popular spots at Hogwarts. Everyone will be at the lake. . .do I want to be with everyone? Deciding that she probably wanted something to do, besides sitting next to the lake. Her other options were to go to the courtyard. Again Marlene wanted to be with people yes, but only the people she wanted to be with. But having the short attention span that Marlene was famous for, she wouldn't look for her friends because she would probably get far too distracted.
Of all places to finally sit down, she chose the middle of now where. Well actually the lawns, but nobody goes to the lawns. Throwing the rest of her body down on the lawns, she sighed at look up at the clear blue sky. Figures the day, you need the clouds to see what shapes there in. None of the clouds bother to come. The breeze came along again and it felt great, it was gentle and the sun was shining. Fiddling with a stray piece of hair, she thought she heard someone else walking on the lawns. But Marlene comfortable didn't bother to get up and see who was there. She vaguely wondered if the person could see her, she was on the floor and she doubted anyone would find her unless they were looking for her. Closing her eyes, she smiled and thought. The perfect day, to do nothing.

Kally had woken up earlier than usual, she guessed it had something to do with the fact that she went to bed so late. It was odd, the earlier she went to bed the later she woke up. She went to bed late and she woke up early. Well that didn’t matter, Kally had a few books she had to finish by the end of the day anyway. So it was best to wake up early and finish them. Though she could tell it would be a nice day out, she dressed herself in a big nice orange shirt (the kind of orange that looks nice, not the kind that only manages to make a person look like a cone in the middle of the street). The shirt which sleeves fell just at her finger tips and the bottom of her shirt went almost mid-thigh. And baggy navy blue jeans. Well that was Kally, or had been Kally, she had after all that summer, tried to be less tomboyish and more girly.
She had tried the Ravenclaw common room, than the library but couldn’t get comfortable anywhere. She decided to go outside. Maybe that was the problem with her, she needed sun. Though unable to put her book down for the short walk outside, she held it open, reading as she walked. It wasn’t the first time she had done it. She was often found reading as she walked. Actually since her 3rd year she had gotten pretty good at it. She rarely bumped into anything. And when she did it was never her fault. As Kally’s nephews and nieces would say: “Skillage.”
Though she paid little mind to what was in front of her, or what was around her. She was aware of some of the younger students being sure to get out of her way. She smiled lightly as she continued to read. They must know how grouchy she is in the morning, and disturbed while she was reading. Well what could she say? She may have even helped a few of these kids when they needed it, they knew Kally wasn’t always evil… most of the time. She shook her head lightly with a smile, as she looked up from her book, yes, she was right, there were a few of the younger students being sure to be out of her way. “Good morning,” she said waving at them, as she turned back to her book as if they were no longer there. It was funny since she was so small and they were just about her height.
When she finally got outside, she sighed lightly. Sometimes it felt like forever walking around that castle. She pulled her scrunchie out of her hair (though still managing to walk and read at the same time). Not that it had done very much since her hair was already falling apart. She really didn’t know what she was going to do with her hair. She thought about chopping it off, just short of her shoulders. But than again, she used to cut her hair like that. And Kally really didn’t need to look any more like her. Though she was sure her father and brothers wouldn’t mind.
Kally looked up from her book for a moment, to see where her legs were taking her. Oh! She thought, she was heading to her favorite place. The one place she rarely saw anyone. Good, she thought. That way there would be no one there. Kally was the kind of person who could ignore just about anything; when she was sleeping, when she was reading, when she was spacing out. But she liked quite no and again, and in the school and pretty much anywhere else, there was always someone there to make noise.
Now Kally hadn’t noticed that there was anyone on the ground, with her nose in her book, she was headed to a nice spot on the lawns, where she went whenever she had time. Soon Kally found herself tripping over something… or someone. Catching herself before she fell (though dropping her book), she looked to see what she had tripped on… a Gryffindor. With her hands on her hips she stood straight up, her 5’2” tall. Looking down she said;
“You really need to be more careful. I could have broken something,” she said not bothering to ask the girl she tripped over if she was ok. She then turned to look for a book, which seemed to have gone missing once she had dropped it.

A gentle breeze blew as Marlene felt herself dozing off. Unaware that a Ravenclaw who obviously wasn't paying any attention to where she was going was coming straight at her. WHACK! Marlene's eyes shot opened as she felt the wind get knocked out of her. She saw a Ravenclaw stumbled by as a book toppled onto the floor. Ow, my side.
Wheezing as Marlene tried to sit up, she gasped in pain. She knew that she was probably going to have a bruise there the next day. Staring at the Ravenclaw trying to figure out where in her memory had she seen the girl. They passed each other in the halls before, the Ravenclaw never acknowledging her presence. “You really need to be more careful. I could have broken something,”
Marlene stared at the girl in utter shock. Did she seriously just say that? Sitting in an up right position she touched her side before addressing the rather snobbish Ravenclaw. " Well you wouldn't have to worry about breaking something, if you'd bother to watch where you going." Marlene didn't want to deal with self centered people today, that's why she picked the lawns to stay.
"By the way, I'm fine just bruised and expecting an apology." Muttering something else, Marlene didn't care if the girl heard her or not. ". .. not like I'm going to one." Debating on standing, Marlene decided to just sit down until she left. Last thing she needed was a snobbish Ravenclaw who saw Marlene in pain.

Kally could feel herself rolling her eyes. She didn’t apologize to anyone… unless it was really her fault. And in this case, which Kally truly believed wasn’t her fault. Reading and walking was something she had always been able to do. And what was this girl doing laying on the ground anyway? Kally wanted to know. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. I come here often enough to know that there won’t be many people here. Especially this early in the day.
Kally looked down at the Gryffindor girl, summing her up. She seemed to be one of those girls who was usually tried to fit in, was never alone, was always where the crowd was, and to Kally she probably wasn‘t bright. So what was she doing here? So close to Kally’s sanctuary? And she expected Kally to apologized. No, she didn’t think so. That wasn’t happening not anytime soon anyway.
“I don’t have to watch where I’m going,” Kally said, with a patronizing smile. “I‘ve been able to read and walk since I was thirteen. Also I wasn’t the one who was just ran over.” After some thought Kally said. “I’m not apologizing, just so you know. But are you ok?” Kally asked, in a voice that said, I don’t really care, but I guess I shouldn’t be too rude.
After a moment she asked. “What are you doing here anyway? I would expect someone like you would be off… somewhere else, not here where I usually come. So um, really it was your fault I tripped over you.” Kally gave one of her childish smiles, the ones she gave adults when she was in trying to get her way. And it usually worked. After all, what kind of adult could resist, a smart, “good behaved,” student? Kally knew the answer to that one!

Marlene raised an eyebrow when the Ravenclaw seemed to be studying her. She shifted slightly under the gaze, she usually didn't have random Ravenclaws stare at her.“I don’t have to watch where I’m going,” Marlene rolled her eyes at this. Well obviously you do since you ran me over.“I‘ve been able to read and walk since I was thirteen. Also I wasn’t the one who was just ran over.” What do does she want a medal? Big deal she could read and walk.
“I’m not apologizing, just so you know. But are you ok?” Marlene grimace at the Ravenclaw when she said this. She sounds oh so concern. .. . Though Marlene's parents have raised her to be nice, most of that was lost due to being friends with James for so long. But a part about the manners was still in there, sighing Marlene said. "I'm fine, thanks for asking." "What are you doing here anyway? I would expect someone like you would be off… somewhere else, not here where I usually come. ”
This time Marlene gave the Ravenclaw a quizzing look. Since when did this turn into an interrogation? Listening to Ravenclaw go on about how she didn't expect someone like Marlene to be here. Wait! What? Is that supposed to me? Someone like me? Since when is this her spot? "Hold on, what's that suppose to mean? Someone like me?" She paused waiting for the answer. "So um, really it was your fault I tripped over you."The nerve of this girl, who exactly did she think she is. Ick, that smile is going to make me sick. Who was she trying to fool, a Professor? Smiling sweetly she said to the girl. "What I'm doing here is no concerns of yours and. . ." Batting her eyelashes she added. "...um it's still your fault, since you had your nose stuck in a book, far too busy to pay attention. Thus running me over."

Kally’s reply to: I’m fine, thanks for asking, was: “Don’t mention it,” as if she had done a good deed. Please… Kally only did good things if it would benefit her. Or if she was in a very good mood. It wasn’t that Kally didn’t like to do nice things. It was just, why do good deeds? People recognize you and that was it. Maybe you got some attention. But you got even less, by not doing good things, by doing pretty much nothing in general… well as long as you weren’t doing things so off the top. And Kally was never one who wanted attention. She was never an attention seeker. The one and only time Kally had ever been truly nervous was during the sorting her first year. She hated having so many people watch her. Kally only wanted to be recognized as the smart individual she was. Nothing more, nothing less.
“Hmm…” she stood there for a moment, tapping her bottom lip with her index finger. “Now what did I mean when I said ‘some one like you’? Hmm…” She stopped for a moment, before adding, “If you don’t know, you don’t want the answer from me.” Kally was all set with being a bitch and being mean. But she wasn’t a person, who would go hurt other people. Unless, there was something she would get out of it. And at that moment, she didn’t think she would get much from this girl. Anyway, who was Kally to stereotype people. Sure she did it all the time, but she tried not to. At least not to do it out loud. Because, as sad as it is, she had been wrong before, and it really wasn’t fun making a fool out of herself. “You should ask someone else about that,” Kally said, nodding her head, though this time not being patronizing. She was actually quite serious.
Kally looked away as she rolled her eyes. “Please,” she wanted to say. “Girly charm isn’t going to work on me, so you can go bat your eyes somewhere else.” Kally grinned, no longer as if she was talking to some one much older than herself, but one that said, dear I can play that game just as well. Kally could be girly when she wanted. Usually when she was trying to get a guys attention… and well that didn’t happen often, not that Kally was fickle when it came to guys, she just had a high standard. “You do know, that even if I wasn’t reading, I probably wouldn’t have seen you. You were lying on the ground,” Kally spoke softly, as if the girl she was talking to was a little on the slow side. “And I’m not going to walk with my head facing down,” she shrugged her shoulders as if to say, case closed, your wrong, I’m right.
