Alice walked alone through the empty and dark corridors, she had just left dinner, she hadn't had much of an appetite. She rarely did, it ran in her family. Neither of her parents ate much. She walked silently, her steps the only sound echoing in the halls. She didn't really expect to see anyone else lurking the halls while food was being served, so she let down her guard and began humming the tune of her favorite song. Her blonde hair hung loosely around her shoulders, moving back and forth as she strolled throughout the corridor.
The sun was just beginning to set, and while she could barely make out the image far in front of her out the window, she could see enough of the magnificent colors to know it was going to be quite a sight. Excitement filled her bones, it was really the simple things that got Alice. "Simply Alice" her mother used to call her, sometimes she wished she was something more, someone who left a mark, the girl you always remembered. Like some of her friends, everyone knew their names, but everyone struggled when asked to identify Alice. But that was just her nature, sweet, but too shy to leave much of an impression.
As she made her way closer to the wonderful window in front of her, she began to think, it was her seventh year here at Hogwarts, and maybe it was time for her to speak up a little bit. "I'm so shy, few people even know who I am." she thought, though that may have been an exageration, it still had some weight to it. But whether or not people knew her was not the main point. "I just need to branch out more, make more friends, not really new friends, Lil and Emme are great," ran through her head, but it was fact. Alice Logan was going to push away her shyness as best she could and speak up! She was determing to do so, though it was easier said than done. Alice was naturally extremely shy, and there wasn't much changing that.
She finally reached the window, and leaned against the edge, so she could still gaze out at the beautiful sunset before her. The rays shot out in every color. Purples, pinks, and oranges plastered the sky. Every worry left her for a moment, and she remembered a time she had spent with her father on vacation, waking up early to watch the sunrise, though she couldn't help but to admit, she liked the sunsets much more. For a moment she stood, frozen in time, until she heard footsteps nearby, but she didn't panic like she usually would, she was too calm, so she just stayed put, looking into the horizon.
