Emmeline Vance walked down the hall towards the empty classroom which she had discovered her first year with Lil's. They randomly came upon the room when the stairs, of course, started to change. It stopped right in front of the hallway leading to it and Emme being curious decided to check out what it was and Lily tried to stop her but it was no use! Emme had already opened the door to reveal an abandoned classroom. She smirked as her hand slid on to the door knob for the first time this year. She twisted the door knob and opened the door to reveal the dusty classroom once more. Emme rarely visited the classroom, only when she wanted to be alone or alone with someone and in this case it was Mr. James Potter Pothead. At least that's what Lily and Alice liked to call him. Emme usually found it humorous but not at the moment. She didn't really feel like laughing at all.
The reason she had sent James the letter to meet her here was because last night she had heard what had happened to his father and she wanted to apologize for being mean or annoying in any way in the beginning of the school year. Everything that she had done or said was building up as guilt and with guilt, it was best to just get it off her chest. She walked up to the chalkboard and smirked again as she started to write " I'm Sorry James! " In big letters across the board. She continued to write and underlined sorry. Finishing what she had started she rested the chalk on the chalk holder and sat in one of the desk that were set up to face to board.
Emme began to tap her foot on the wooden floor as she waited patiently for James to arrive. She knew he must've been hurting terribly...she just wanted to take his mind off it but she knew that wasn't something exactlyeasy to do. So it was best if she just stuck to her plan. She really wondered what was taking him soo long! She looked around for a clock in the room and when she found one, she noticed it was no longer working. She sighed as she turned away from it and began to look at the carvings on the desk. " I hate this class! ", " I hate HOGWARTS! Love, Amilee ". Now why would anyone ever write their name next to a carving on their desk? Unless they wanted to get in trouble which didn't make any sense to her at all! She chuckled gazing at other desks to see the carvings on those. She found about five desks with no carvings upon them, the rest were scratched up. She didn't understand the people of the past were thinking at all...
Emme heard the door knob of to the room turning. Automatically, she thought that it was James so she turned her body towards the door to see a Ravenclaw boy walk into the room. He stared at Emme and started to blush. The boy looked like he was about in his third year. " H..hi...." The boy spat out. Emme chuckled and said, " Uhhh...hi! " There was an awkward silence until Emme said to the boy, " Umm, I'm kind of waiting for someone here can you leave? " The boy laughed and and nodded as he left the room. Emme smacked her hand to her forehead. It never fails, there's always something interesting going on in my life!

Sleep. It was better every time discovered, especially after a lack of it for a few days. James Potter hadn't slept for three days until last night, and the second his gorgeous head hit the pillow, he was out. He'd only waken up to find Peter all in his face holding some type of letter or other. James nearly jumped out of his skin, and (clutching his sheets) nearly fell off the bed. "Jesus, Wormtail!" He huffed, grabbing absently for his spectacles and tossing them effortlessly on. His hair, unruly, pointed in all directions possible. It was from Emmeline Vance. His heart sank. Em. She wanted to meet with him, but James couldn't figure out why. Since last year, she hadn't talked to him and he assumed that she resented what went down.
James and Em had been together for an entire year, and it was a good year at that. It'd started at a party and ended at a party, both in the Gryffindor Common Room. James yawned loudly, and much to the displeasure of Peter, started stripping out of his Pajamas. Peter wasn't used to seeing a real man! Which made Prongs think about Emme again. They'd shared a special moment that he didn't regret, hell, it was perfect. But he kept to himself why he didn't stay with her, why he had broken up with her at the end of their sixth year. He told Padfoot that it was because he wanted to try out the other girls in his fan club, but his conscious begged to differ. In fact, James hadn't even told Remus the true reason. Maybe Em would hate him less if the truth was revealed, or maybe she'd hate him more.
After sloppily throwing on his tie and robes, James tucked his wand in his back pocket. He pinned on his Head badge and ran both hands through his hair, satisfied with his appearance. The bags were slowly disappearing and since the initial shock was wearing away, his complexion was starting to come back. No longer did he look sickly, just perplexed. He was relieved that he'd been able to sleep because he'd tried to avoid doing so lately. He was too afraid of what he might dream of. And that was probably why Em called this little shin-dig. She didn't want to get back together with him (but for all he knew, she still loved the hunk) and she didn't seem to be the kind of girl to give a booty call. Someone should let Sirius know about that. But it was an empty classroom in the middle of no where . . . James figured it was best not to get his hopes up.
As he sauntered into the classroom, any hope he had staggered when he read the blackboard. Why was she sorry? Had she committed the crime? James resisted the temptation to proclaim "EMME! YOU DEATH EATER SPY, YOU KILLED MY FATHER!" but figured it wasn't appropriate. He glanced at the distraught Em, and no matter what they'd gone through, James couldn't help but think she was beautiful. Sirius deemed her "hot," but he couldn't agree. Em was different than most girls at Hogwarts; she wasn't trampy and she didn't try too hard. There was something about her that gave her natural beauty that, at one time, attracted James. But he knew he didn't love her in the way that he should have. Shaking thoughts aside, he pulled out a chair and sat on it backward. "Hey, Em."

Emmeline sat in the desk still thinking of what had happened with the Ravenclaw boy when the door was opened once again. Was it James or someone else? She pondered the thought until she saw him walk into the room.
Well, it seemed James was getting better... And the last thing Emme wanted to do was bring him back down to rock bottom by bringing up his father. From what Lily had told her, he looked sickly when she saw him. And from what Emme saw...he was getting better. She shook off her confused look and brought a smile back to her face once more. From what Lily had told her, he looked sickly when she saw him. And from what Emme saw...he was getting better. Emme then looked at the door and counted to three in her head and waited for the doorknob to turn she sighed. Where was Peter? You would think he wouldn't be too far behind from James but she guessed he told Peter to back off. She shrugged and looked at James again then said,
" Hey James..I'm guessing your wondering why your done here correct? "
Emme felt like slapping herself. Of course he was wondering why he was down here! She hadn't talked to him since they had broke up and every time they saw each other she either ignored him completely or walked in the other direction. If she was James she probably wouldn't have come... but ladies and gents had a whole different way on how the world went so she couldn't really put herself in his shoes. After thinking this over, she decided to just go on and tell him why he had received a letter this morning.
" James, I just wanted to say sorry for being a jerk to you after we broke up..I guess it hurt me more than I expected it too. "
Emme told him the begging of what she had to say. There was so much more to say but she didn't want to just dump it on him. But then she wanted to express her feelings and she knew that she could do that with James without him joking about it the whole time. Unlike Peter or Sirius! It was kind of annoying when she tried to tell them something that was serious because Peter would just ignore it and change the subject and Sirius wouldn't even be paying attention.
That was why she didn't want to like Sirius again. Now she was trying harder than ever to hid her feelings for him because now he liked her. It was hard not to just say, " Hey Sirius how about we hook up! " But then what if Sirius didn't really like her as she heard. Maybe he just wanted a someone to play around with a then leave. It sucked so much especially when she still had a little feeling for James. Ohhh her love life was so confusing! She didn't know what she wanted anymore! Maybe she should just go hook up with Remus or Peter! That would be hilarious but she wouldn't dare! It was too risky plus she didn't like them, like that, at all!

James, for the most part, was befuddled. It hurt that the only reason Emme was even talking to him was because his father died. Was that what it took for them to realize that he was human? Was that what it took for them to treat him civilly? He was a big boy, he could handle it without everyone pitying him and always feeling sorry. Of course he was sorry for hurting Emme. That was never his intention. James just couldn't lead on not loving her like he was supposed to. He knew it wasn't right, and one day, she'd realize that he wasn't right for her either. Still, though, she had sincerity in her voice and he tried to hold onto that thought. He tried to let that overcome his anger with her and the rest of her friends. Even Lily.
"Em, I'm sorry for hurting you. . ." James stated truthfully without the slightest trace of what really was on his mind. He hoped they could turn the conversation to their failed relationship as opposed to his father. "You know that, don't you?" He extended his hands to take her own in an attempt to comfort her. He knew though, this whole idea was an attempt to comfort him. Maybe a reason why it was over between them was because they had a serious relationship. A serious one. James was hardly ever serious about anything or anyone for that matter except himself. . .well, that was weird. Erm. Anyway. He had the feeling that she wasn't done talking which is why he waited for her to talk.
How could he tell her that he was in love with her best friend? Lily was in the same boat of only realizing he was human when his father died. And whatever ruthless things he'd done before, that topped them all. It killed him that a tragedy had to occur before they treated him with any respect at all. At least with Lily's friends, he knew they were half-way kidding when they called him Potthead. Come to think of it, it never really bothered him until now. Until he was being pitied and patronized.
